Betty and Kasie and I discovered that the elevator makes for beautiful photos :)
My backbar neighbor, Jenny, graduated yesterday. I will miss her oh-so-blonde moments, her amazing updos, and her drive for perfection.
Thankfully, she'll be working just down the road from me, and we have one day off together during the week. We fully intend to cause much trouble! ;)
Jenny did this to me early this week. Looks like a I have a short bob doesn't it?? She had so many people fooled into thinking I chopped off my hair...hilarious!
Oh, did I mention I have a job? LOL! I got hired at an amazing salon, right where I wanted to be. Here's the website - check it out! I start August 20.
And now it's time for me. I graduate August 9. I've started saying goodbye to many of my clients. These are people that have been coming to the school for 20+ years. I have a few younger folks that are following me to my new salon, but my regulars...well, I will miss them dearly.
Especially this lady, my Gene. I've seen her once a week since October, when she was passed down to me by a graduating senior. Gene is wonderful to chat with, and always makes me laugh. She walks with a cane, and has been known to swing it at people that don't move out of her way... She likes to bring me things - like magazines from 1964 - so we can check out the old hairstyles, and roll in laughter reading how women used to be expected to care for their husbands! ;)
She brings photos of her in her younger years, so we can admire her great-big bouffant hair. And when I made her hair big like those photos (upon her request), we laughed until tears ran down our faces, at how ridiculous she looked! Her adorable husband, Lyle, would wait patiently on the bench while I did her hair every Friday. He always had something kind to say to me, and also to his "beautiful wife". I cried when I said goodbye to Gene and Lyle today. I hope she comes to visit me when CHD goes on summer and winter breaks, and she needs her roller set. Gene knows my favorite color is purple, so when I told her we must take a photo together on our last day together...she came all dolled up, earrings and all. I will miss Fridays with Gene...
