First day in the salon

On Saturdays, the salon is super busy at school. There are 2 salons - one huge one, that is for the youngest 3 classes of students. Then they have a separate salon, down the hall, that is just for the seniors - once you reach a certain number of hours, you get to go over there. You are pretty much on your own there, so it's basically to prepare you for real salon life.

Today we each shadowed another student, that has been at the school longer. They put me with a senior (she graduates in a week!). I got to wash her client's hair, which is good practice, and she gave me good advice. Then I spent the rest of the day watching her do her thing. She's had a job lined up for a few weeks, and will be getting a work permit so she can practice legally before she takes her national barber boards next month. I asked if she really felt ready for the real world after only 14 months of school, and she said "Absolutely. They really prepare you for post-school jobs, and I'm ready to get started." I'll believe that when I feel that way!! ;)

I didn't take any photos at school, but I took some of my own hair LOL! I tried a new style this morning, and it turned out great!

I made some poufy waves in my hair, and added a braid at the top - it's bobby pinned under the back of my hair. I thought it looked cute, and it stayed out of my face! No pony tails allowed in school!! OMG the horror!

Love your blog Leia! I'm so hopeless with my hair. It pretty much looks the same every single day. Wish I had your creativity!
