We learned a boomerang perm this week. It's for long hair - creates lovely spiral curls.
Crazy looking huh? The upside: VERY easy perm to wrap. I think this only took me an hour, and it's simple to get right. The downside: the rods are VERY heavy when your head is full of them. It takes two people to rinse the perm solution from these rods, and the client may experience neck pain *the manikin head was crazy-heavy to pick up when all the rods were in!*

Today we learned a candlestick wrap (AKA a spiral perm for shorter hair)
Easier than the basic wrap, more time consuming than the boom wrap, but not a hard wrap to complete!

And lookee here! Leia got herself a haircut! Two of my instructors helped me out on this one - it turns out the reason I've had such troubles making it look "right" in the morning, is because my hair was 1 1/2 inches LONGER on my right side...hmmm, maybe this is why my husband and I get so frustrated when our barber gets chatty and distracted during our haircuts?? *Note to self: be a good barber. Don't get so distracted!
So, my instructors had to take more length off than I wanted :( BUT, they put in some beautiful, bouncy layers, and I'm uber happy with this new style! It will grow out much better...and far more even, apparently! **This is the side-view, in case you thought I was part owl**
